Aeolus White - outcry (EP)

Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter, and poet Aeolus White has released his latest 7 track EP, “outcry”, a deeply personal and evocative project that serves as both a confession and a catharsis. The lead single, “outcry (say the words)”, embodies the raw emotional depth that defines the record, blending alternative R&B with moody, pulsating production and introspective lyricism.

The EP’s title track began as a simple freewriting exercise. Aeolus quickly realised he was writing about surviving childhood abuse, a revelation that transformed the song into a deeply therapeutic experience. The track’s haunting, chromatic chord progression sets the stage for a pulsing bassline and moody atmospherics, while its rhythmic tension mirrors the intensity of his journey. The release of the EP also aptly coincides with Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April), something White looks to raise awareness for and de-stigmatise the conversation around SA.

Sometimes speaking is the first step toward survival,” Aeolus shares. outcry (say the words) is both a personal reckoning and an invitation for others to find their own voice in the face of trauma.

The EP is years in the making. Aeolus originally recorded the tracks long ago but delayed the release, ensuring he was ready not just to share his experiences but to engage in meaningful discussions around them. The EP’s name draws inspiration from the legal term “outcry witness,” referring to the person to whom a child first reports abuse. The EP delves into themes of survival, failed relationships, troubled family dynamics, and the challenge of letting go of loved ones. Despite its heavy themes, Aeolus has crafted a sonic landscape that remains accessible and emotionally stirring, balancing honesty with a sense of movement and hope.
