Celebrated independent hip-hop artist Aesop Rock has announced his new album, Black Hole Superette, will be released on 30th May via Rhymesayers Entertainment.
Entirely self-produced and his fourth album since 2020, Black Hole Superette continues Aesop Rock’s hot streak. The record - which features a remarkable roll call of guests in Armand Hammer, Open Mike Eagle, Lupe Fiasco, Homeboy Sandman and Hanni El Khatib - explores the forces that shape our lives and psyches, delving into the often overlooked moments that blur the boundaries between the real and the imagined.
In tandem with the album news, Aesop Rock has released lead single, Checkers, and an accompanying psychedelic video by Justin CORO Kaufman. "This is about the neighbourhood outside your home being the great leveller,” says Aesop of the song. “You can’t show up feeling one way because the world will show you otherwise."
Black Hole Superette follows Aesop's 2023 offering, Integrated Tech Solutions, which was praised as “another assured slam dunk” by The Guardian, crowned Bandcamp’s Album Of The Day, awarded an 8.0 review from Pitchfork, and reached a score of 84% on Metacritic.
