Taite Imogen - Jordan Year (EP)
Rising R&B songstress Taite Imogen unveils her new EP “Jordan Year”, self-released on 22nd September. Written in 2021 at age 23, during her own Jordan Year, the North-Londoner pours herself into five mesmerising tracks that delve deep into the nuances of love and relationships. Set against a backdrop of velvety R&B sounds, “Jordan Year” features production from Komikamo, LOELASH and Toch Ejimofor.
Featured on the EP is new track “Get Like Me”, which follows previously released single “Rock With You” which sees Taite embrace her femininity with unapologetic flair, while “Here” pays homage to the early 2000’s both on the track and in its accompanying visuals. Written during the confines of the 2021 lockdown, a period of introspection and standstill, Taite shares her creative process: “I began creating this project back in 2021 during lockdown, I was 23 and in-between moving from South East London to North London. I was in a weird place for the longest time and I would always dream about creating a body of work that truly felt like me and captured my sound as an artist. Some of these songs started as seed’s in 2019 when I was thinking of quitting music completely, and since releasing music again in 2023, I’ve experienced and achieved some of things young Taite would always dream of and I’m grateful that I never gave up. 2023 has been my true Jordan Year and this EP is dedicated to the girl that sat in her small shoebox room in Belvedere, beating herself up about how she was never doing enough and to all the amazing people who have helped me along the way, I couldn’t have done it without them”.
Taite Imogen began her journey back in 2017 releasing her debut EP ‘The Self Love Chemical’, a fusion of soft, angelic vocals, R&B melodies and hard-hitting beats, which received support from BBC Radio 1Xtra. Whilst honing her craft and working on new music Taite Imogen recently lent her vocals to Austrian born, Manchester-based producer Salute on his track ‘Wait For it’, which Clara Amfo declared the Hottest Record in the World on her BBC Radio 1 show. She has also collaborated on tracks with electronic producers Barry Can't Swim and LOELASH, in addition to her upcoming appearance on the forthcoming album of Canadian electronic production trio, Keys N Krates.
